Grain Elevator Fire in Nevada

 

The cause of a grain elevator fire on Monday evening in Nevada has yet to be undetermined, but it’s believed not to be suspicious.  Firefighters arrived from several departments to battle the flames at Mennco Grain on 105 S. Main Street, in very cold temperatures.

 

The fire as first noticed when a passer by saw a red glow just after 9 p.m., the passer-by noticed a red glow at the bottom of one of the grain dryers and reported it.

 

The dryer contained 2,500 bushels of soybeans, and that made the fire harder to extinguish.

 

In the first hour, 80,000 gallons of water were used...  The dollar amount of the damage in not yet known.
